Abstract | The article discusses the results of an analysis made by U.S. Center for Diseases Control (CDC) on 117 hurricane-related deaths reported by the American Red Cross. The analysis which included any Hurricane Sandy related death recorded on a Red Cross mortality form found that drowning was the most common cause of death related. Majority of the drowning deaths occurred in the initial phase of the storm with 20 decedents drowning in flooded homes in New York.
