Working with the Science and Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay (SRIJB), CCRUN co-hosted a climate forum series. The forums are focused on providing information to residents in communities in the Jamaica Bay area (New York City) to learn more about weather and climate risk. This event, held at the Rockaway Institute for a Sustainable Environment (RISE) Center, focused on extreme heat.

At these forums, CCRUN researchers have the opportunity to present the science information while local decision-makers (e.g. representatives from New York City’s Office of Emergency Management) describe how they are responding, with a focus on the neighborhood level. The structure of the events dedicates time to presentation followed by a tools café, where attendees can interact with the speakers. For the climate forums, attendance averages around 40 people per event.
